Datafromfivecomprehensivefieldexperimentsduringyears2000-2006wereusedtostudytheinternaltidalflowpatternintheKaopingSubmarineCanyon(KPSC),Taiwan.Theinternaltidesarelargewithinterfacedisplacementsofabout200mandmaximavelocitiesofover100cm/s.Theyarecharacterizedbyafirst-modevelocitystructurewithzerocrossingatabout100mdepth.Inthelowerlayer,thecurrentsincreasewithincreasingdepth.Verticalphaseshiftisapparent,especiallynearthecanyonhead.Also,thedensityreachesthemaximumatabouttheendofthefloodcurrents,indicatingapredominantstandingwavepattern. |
