Theprimaryobjectiveofthisvisitistomakethefinalarrangementofourequipmenttransfer.IdiscussedwithJASCOInternationaltheexportofthetwomajorinstruments,namely,anAr+-ionlaserandachiller.FurthermoreIfoundanothertwousefulinstrumentsintheHamaguchilaboratorythatcanbetransferredtoNCTU,andhandedthemovertoJASCO.Theyarealow-passfilterthatwouldbehelpfulforreducingnoisesinIRelectroabsorptionexperimentsandaRamanspectrometerthatwouldbeusedtodevelopananosecondtime-resolvedRamanspectroscopysysteminthenearfuture.IdiscussedwithProf.HamaguchithedetailsonthesymposiumthatweplantoorganizeinHsinchuthissummer.Thissymposiumismeanttoexhibittheachievementsofourlaboratorymadeinthepasttwoyears.WescheduledittentativelytoJuly12–14.Thelistofinvitedspeakersandpossiblesourcesoffundingwerediscussed.WehavedecidedtoinviteourcollaboratorsbothfromTaiwanandfromJapan.Sincethedevelopmentofalow-frequencyRamanspectroscopysystemisnowplannedinourlaboratory,ImadeapreliminaryinspectionofthesysteminTokyo.IaskedaPh.D.studentwhoconstructedthesetupsometechnicaldetails.Thediscussionwillcertainlyturnouttobeveryhelpfulwhenwewilldevelopasimilar(butbetterhopefully)setupinHsinchu.IalsohadalookataRamanmicrospectroscopysystemthatusesanair-cooledAr+-ionlaserastheexcitationlightsourceandacustom-madepiezoelectrictranslationstage.Iwastoldthatexcitationaround500nmwaslikelytosuppressthebackgroundarisingfromglass. |
